Blossom Plaza stands in the Chinatown district of Downtown Los Angeles. It knits together a rich pedestrian experience, public artworks, contemporary architecture and a dynamic landscape. Set in the neighborhood’s core, its spirit and scale mix harmoniously into the transit-oriented mixed use development.
One of the joys of working in historic spaces is getting to know the unique needs of the people and the place. With a dedicated focus on bolstering the community, Forest City placed particular emphasis on connecting Chinatown back to its essential public transit. The location's uncommon terrain included some of the most memorable elements for any Forest City project, including two seismic hotspots, and direct positioning above the historic Zanja Madre Aqueduct.
Blossom Plaza is defined by lantern-lit streetscapes and intricately patterned avenues that reference traditional Chinese forms. The considered response to urban living conceived by architect Johnson Fain is designed to celebrate and engage with the world around it. Included are 237 apartments situated above 20,000 square feet of retail and food and beverage. 19,000 square feet of thoughtfully positioned public space supports and inspires neighborhood gatherings.
